Find Ancestors

My Father (Frank Dobson) beleived he may of been evacuated between 1942 and 44 to Teign Village near Chudleigh, Devon. He never went back to Plymouth, where he was born with no further contact with any biological family. He has only had his birth certificate recently from which we were able to trace his family tree. But we have drawn a blank when it comes to his birth parents Frank Dobson and Mary Malcolm.

While researching the tree we found that nearly all his family are from Huddersfield Yorkshire, his parents were married there in 1938 and then moved to plymouth as his father was in the navy. I have Mary and Franks Marriage certificate and Frank Dobson (09 april 1913) his birth certificate

I have exhausted most avenues and I know that my father would just like to know good or bad where he comes from and why he never went back. His "foster" parents were not the most outspoken of people and they had other evacuees form what he can remember.

anyone with any info i would be so grateful its such a puzzle to me and him and im sure a member of family somewhere will know something. I am a novice but also really keen and can see myself addicted !!

Two Frank's are showing Jun qtr 1913, one born in Huddersfield area and the other in Hull area.

If Frank was born in Huddersfield then his mothers maiden name was Kenyon, likewise if Frank was born in Hull area his mothers maiden name was Waddington.

If you can confirm which is correct then we may be able to go a little further back for you!

Im pretty sure i managed to find both on census etc.

I made my tree on ancestry and tried to upload to here, however when i did some dates got mixed up as there are over 50 people on it it would be a struggle.

Its the Frank Dobson Born 1913 who married Mary Malcolm in 1938 thats the people im searching for. After the amrriage certificate my trail goes cold!

after their marriage, on my fathers birth certificate it shows their address as 52 lorrimor avenue plymouth. Frank born 1913 shows as a leading seaman in the royal navy 13996. without a confirmed death i cant get his record from the navy.

i guessed the possible death above i suppose i have to order another death certificate?

re mary i dont on her marriage certificate it shows her 22 (marriage date april 23rd 1938

Several death registrations for Mary Dobson born 1916 (if correct birth shown above), 3 of which were registered in Yorkshire, two in Lancashire and one Cumberland, which is now Cumbria.

born 13 august 1940 shows as john dobson mother Mary formely malcolm and frank dobson same Royal Naval number 13996
