From IGI I have the family for Mary Maria Pickles which I have tried to expand but the G.R. single line census entries for 1851 don't quite match up and I am hoping someone can see anything different. Apart from 'Bristol' in place of Idle I think the places of birth for John and Elizabeth have been reversed, marriages mostly taking place at the brides church?? |

Thank you Janet , Dea, Lindsey and rootgatherer, it seems that my 'fishing' has caught bits that do not match my original target. Birstall is quite a distance from idle! |

Dea you have just read my mind - to get back to 1841, but is the 1851 remnants of the 1841, after all Jabez with David surely can't crop up that often....? |

Birstall is only about 10 or 15 miles away from Idle. Not a long way when looking for work-jl |

Yes Janet, that they moved to Birstall is fine but hiking back to Idle/Shipley for two christenings? |

sorry Frances, I have read your message several times and I can't quite see what you are asking. When you say ' Eliza being a servant spoils that hope' what exactly are you wanting to know.-j |

My gt gt grandmother took all her children back to her place of birth for christening -in my family that was taking them all from Huddersfield to Horbury Wakefield. I think people travelled more than we imagine.-j |
