Find Ancestors

I'm looking for help finding the birth of a James Morton (D 1891) in Falkirk, Stirlingshire Scotland.

According to his death certificate his parents were Thomas Morton (Letter carrier) and Margaret Morton (ms Walker).

I have searched on Scotland's people Website/ Ancestry and cant find his birth certificate or his parents marriage. I feel like I'm going in circles!

Any help would be much appreciated.

A tree on Ancestry shows his date of death as 4 March 1891 Falkirk and a search on Scotlands people shows only one death for a James Morton in 1891 aged 75 making a birth year of 1816
He married a Rachael Hendrie(Hendry) 21 Dec 1838 Falkirk and censuses 1841 - 1881 except one give a birth year of 1817

His death certificate confirms that he died on 5th March 1891 in Kerse Lane, Falkirk and it states that he was 57 years old?

Would I be better to go to the Scotland's people in person rather than online?

The censuses and the Scotlandspeople record of his death have him as being much older
Have you transposed the age on the death certificate 75 to 57 or does it actually state 57 years
