can you trace Illegitimate childrens fathers

We traced my grandmother's father by finding a bastardy order - as they were then called - in the archives. It was in the records of the assizes. If you're anywhere near the record office in question it may be worth a look there. |

No I don't know if he remarried, although I suppose if Annie did die in 1940 I suppose there was no reason why he would not have remarried |

Flick, Thanks, I also found this but I was a bit nervous about adding it because I have there marriage cert and they actually got married in 1909, Ellen was born in June 1906 so depending on when the census was done she was either 4 or 5, I also have her birth cert and her father isn't named and she has her mothers maiden name |

Both my grandfather and grandmother on my mothers side are illegitimate, Gilbert Reginald Haynes was born in 1908 at 28 Marloes Rd Kensington which was a workhouse, Emma May Haynes was his mothers maiden name, she was born c1890 she went onto marry George Osborne in 1911. |
