Census Look-Up Request

ProfilePosted byOptionsPost Date

Hello,

I have recently discovered a crucial census return for my ancestor Alfred T Mount born 1829 in Surrey. There is a return from 1851 which lists him as living with Ann his wife - well she wasn't! Anyway I have a copy of the actual census return but there is a bit of confusion over the addresses and I believe the address is actually stated on the page previous to the one Alfred and Ann are on. Please could someone look at the previous page for me?

Thank you ever so much,
Elissa

Choccy....

I think 'well, she wasn't' refers to her being the man's wife

Thank you all for your help, that's helped clear it up.

Yes I believe his name is actually Alfred Munt misrecorded as Mount, and that Ann his 'wife' is actually a lady called Marian who he married the following year.

Thanks again!

Just out ot interest, can anyone locate an Elizabeth Ann Munt nee Collins born c1830 in the City of London on the 1861 census. She is married but her husband is away at sea and I can't find Elizabeth anywhere.

Thank you :-)

For Susan, this looks like the marriage:
Marriages Mar 1860
Ayton Jane Simpson Mile End 1c 832
xxx Collins Elizabeth Ann Mile End 1c 832
Hodges Alfred Mile End 1c 832
xxx Munt Alfred Thomas Mile End 1c 832

Have you got the address from the marriage certificate, or the address on the birth certificate, to help with the area we are looking for?
Would any children of his previous marriage be with her?
Thanks

Hi,

Sorry for not getting back to you earlier. The child born in September 1861 was called Elizabeth Jane Munt, daughter of Alfred Thomas Munt and Elizabeth Ann Munt nee Collins. The address on the marriage certificate in 1860 is what looks like 32 Holmes St in the parish of St Thomas, Stepney. I can't really read the address very well, if anyone has a subscription to Ancestry the parish record is available on there.

I'm not aware of any children born to Alfred and his first wife Marian Green. I also don't have a death certificate for her.

Thank you!

I agree, it looks like 32 Holmes Street to me.

On Elizabeth Jane's baptism in December 1861 the address is given as 50 Broad Street. Elizabeth Munt is living at this address in 1861 (recorded as Mart).
