Penny thanks for the Sinfield Bristow link above - believe this to be the Sinfield I mention below, so great to have the record!

The Stanners I am interested in particularly are James William Stanners, b1918 Tynemouth d1991 Watford - looking to trace his parents and grandparents on both sides.

I believe his father was George Stanners, b circa 1891 and Sarah Parker b circa 1900 but am having difficulty in tracing any records relating to them.

The Sinfield I am looking to trace is Joan Evelyn Sinfield, b1923 d2008, previously thought born in Hove but now believed to be Steyning West Sussex. I am trying to confirm that her parents were Sidney Sinfield c1894-1929 and Beatrice E Hughes b circa 1890 d?

Any further thoughts?

You really need to get their marriage cert. You can order online from GRO - http://www.gro.gov.uk

dates for Sydney and Beatrice are guesses based on the fact that I believe they were married early (Jan-Mar) of 1912, and their first born (Ethel) would have come along in September-ish 1912. Also based on the fact that Beatrice's youngest (Brenda) was born in 1930. I have made a guess that Beatrice was at least 18 when she married (hence circa 1896 for birth) which would have made her around 34 when Brenda was born. As I have records which suggest Brenda was her eighth child, I am guessing that she may have thought that was enough!
