Thanks - that does look about right as I think it was said he died fairly young but it was hard to judge HOW young.

I'll add it to the list of certs I need to get.

Thanks again.

Only way to be sure this is him is to get copy of certificate:

Can anybody help me find Frederick's death record please?

tealeaves Report 11 Nov 2011 19:45

I hadn't ruled anything out - I'd drawn a blank entirely and needed fresh eyes. I do use BMD which is how I got the marriage details and cert (before I lost it). Thanks for your help, I think I have a lot more to go on now!

MarieCeleste Report 11 Nov 2011 19:43

I'm not sure whether that Stone birth is his, was just asking if you'd ruled it out.

Where are you searching for records? If not already, try FreeBMD: http://www.freebmd.org.uk

EDIT: Just spotted Patchem's post re: Trentham.

patchem

patchem Report 11 Nov 2011 19:42

The 1891 census has Frederick born in Trentham, which comes under Stone.

Trentham to Longton is a mile or less.

As I see it, parents were Mary and Arthur Clayton, and then Mary married Joseph Kirkland?

tealeaves Report 11 Nov 2011 19:34

Sorry, I meant to say I did have the marriage cert but it got lost in a house move along with a bunch of other papers - quite annoying.

So I'm confused, are there two possible families up there?

Hello

Trying to find the birth details of my great grandfather Frederick Clayton.

I have his marriage to Esther Mary Riddle in 1909 in Staffordshire (Stoke upon Trent I think). Esther was born in 1888.

His son, my dad's dad, was born in 1931, and I THINK he was the last one of eight children in the marriage, the first child being around 1910.

Staffordshire/Stoke keeps popping up.

Getting to the point where I've read everything I can and there are two options left: 1) he wasn't born, or a tad more likely 2) I'm missing the obvious!

Thanks for any help.
