John Hamilton I am told, died at Thistle grove South Kensington in 1871. He apparent;y was a midshipman under Lord Nelson in1800. He joined the first Somerest Militia & entered army in 1812
Does this help to find records?
Many thanks again

Many thanks for all your work. I think the Hamilton you have found is the right one. Ernest Graham, in the Punjab, from the 1911 census certainly seems correct. I will follow up on the other leads so far.
Many thanks again.

Michael..you should reply on your thread...not by Pm..then everybody knows what you're saying.......Looks like you're new on here..and good luck to you..but do not click on the name of the contributor...click on the purple reply button..write your reply and click on the purple submit button.......then we all can talk from the same hymn sheet......
I think ot was the 1st Battalion Connaught rangers who fought in Bengal....you should Google "Connaught Rangers"..and you can actually Google "Captain Ernest Graham Hamilton".......I don't think his father was john hamilton.

With his background..born in Berlin....probably of a military family..Public School in Berkshire 1901..and by 1911 very quickly an obviously very dashing young Captain.....seems to have fought everyhwere..decorated in 1916..probably on the Battlefield............it would be no surprise if here were the Colonel Ernest Grtaham Hamilton..who in the 1930's was sufficiently an authority on Genghis Khan to have an article (two articles actually) published in the Armed Forces gazette............ .....all this without any help from you!!..but be very sad if we've all got the wrong man..only you can tell us!!!
Derek.

I would love to find out more about Ernest Graham Hamilton who was married to Ethel Frith. I believe he died around 1948 - 50. He would have been in his late 60s.Who were his parents? What was his work? Where did he live ? May have been in the forces. The family had strong forces connections.
Also an ancestor of his John Hamilton (may have been father but probably grandfather given the estimated dates) Who I believe died in 1871 at 85 years of age. (Therefore born ca 1786). I know it is a long shot but can anyone help please?
