Would someone be so kind as to look up anything about Frederick Ridgwell. He is on his daughter Louise(Louisa) marriage certificate in 1900 Perth West Australia. His Profession was 'soldier' Her mothers name was Jane. I thought I would start by looking up service records.

Yes that is the one, but for some reason some information has been carried forward incorrectly

William did not have a middle name. I have there marriage certificate and Frederick is her father ( not Walter). William and Louise were both 29 when they wed 13 November 1900 in Perth Western Australia. That is correct because her death was in 1956 and she was 85.

Have not been able to confirm where she was born yet.

Do you know if he was still alive when his daughter married?

I have not been able to find out how Louisa came to Australia. She was here in 1894 because she had a son Cecil William and then another Reginal William in 1895 with no husband mentioned.

She must have come from somewhere. Is there any passenger lists that can be looked up with her leaving England. I know this might be a bit difficult because I still have not confirmed her birth place.

I was going to find her father and then work from there.

I'm not seeing any likely passenger lists yet - but that doesn't mean there aren't any!

Kerry, what makes you think she originated in England? Could she not have been born in Australia?

I think it's important to find out a bit more about Louisa (if we can) to make sure we find the right father - there are a few Frederick Ridgwell (and variants).

What was her marital status on the marriage certificate?

Where did you get mother's name of Jane from (Louisa's death record says Katherine).

I have looked in Australia for her but with no luck. I will try again today as there is just something I am not connecting with.

I know we have to keep in mind that the information on some of the certificates could be wrong. I know that can happen because it was only 2 years ago when my mother died, I had to correct her age at death.......Us humans can make a lot of mistakes.

Just wondering because there is a Louisa REDGEWELL, b. c1871 London, Middlesex in Maldon Union Workhouse in the 1881 census, and in the same workhouse is a Jane REDGEWELL, unmarried, b. c1848 Crixsea, Essex, as a domestic servant.

???

Could explain why her father has been so difficult to locate! Certainly no marriages for Fredk RIDGWELL/RIDGEWELL or similar in England in this timeframe.

Saw your other thread with Wm & Elizabeth with Louisa b. c1871, living in Chelsea in 1881 - I think this is probably that Louisa's birth
