GB, I think the 1901 that rootgatherer has posted is correct. They moved back to Scotland. |

Thank you to everyone for your interest on my behalf. Firstly I apologise that I do not know my way around the site/exactly how I go about finding things out. I have only just started on what I can see can be pretty addictive. My grandfather George Victor Bruce I know was married in Gravesend in 1911. Family hearsay is that he died in 1957 (Gravesend) aged 68 so that would make his year of birth 1889. His father (again hearsay) is James Peter (or Peter James) Bruce born in Fraserburgh Aberdeen in 1862. The same source tells me that they moved to Charles Street, Grays, Essex in 1900 - James Peter, wife and children - John, William, George Margaret and Helen. That James Peter worked as a cooper journeyman at Seabrooks Brewery. That the mother of James Peter was Margaret Bruce who lived and died in Knock, Inverness. George Victor (my grandfather) was married in 1911 to Ellen E Watts; I believe she came from the London area but I have no other information about her other than she may have had a sister called Queenie. I obviously have a great deal to learn about how to track down the information that I need but I thank you in advance for the help that I have had and I will follow it up though it may take me sometime. |

Does anyone have information on James Peter (or Peter James) Bruce born in Fraserburgh Aberdeen in c1862 - specifically his wife's name. Also on the children of the marriage - John, William, Margaret, Helen and George Victor born 23rd April 1895 in Peterhead. They later moved to Grays in Essex. The mother of James Peter is believed to have lived and died in Knock, Inverness. |
