I am trying to find out info on my Gx4 Grandfather. William Gibbons born Wallingford Circa 1780. he married Phoebe/phebe Coggs 02.07.1814 at St Peters Wallingford.
their son Henry William was born 18.01.1816 in Wallingford.
I do not have any other info on William and Phoebe
and I do not know if they had any other chn.
Can anyone share any information with me please?

The family line I am trying to trace is William Gibbons born in the late 1700's
who is father of Henry Gibbons born 1816 in Wallingford.

William married Phoebe/phebe Coggs 02.07.1814 at St Peters Wallingford
however I have also seen another william who married martha Rahill
married 05 OCT 1811 St Leonards, Wallingford as well.

How can I be sure which one he married?

is anyone able to find out if henry 1816 had any siblings please?

If this is your William this would make his birth c1755, however could it be his father as I have a christening at St Leonards Walloingford

Again William is a baker and all the family appear on the 1851 census

So.... my theory is

William born c1755 married Ann
William christened 1790 was their child who married Martha Rathill
Ann died in 1813 and was buried at St Mary Le More on 31 Aug 1813
William senior then went on to marry Phoebe and started another family
William senior then died in1829

It is all very interesting thank you so much.
The Gibbons were a line of bakers so it sounds correct, even to this day there is still a Gibbons bakery in Cowley Oxford. As I am coming to the Uk and want to visit the places where ancestors lived, this is wonderul informion to find out and helps with the confusion of why there are two marriages of a William Gibbons so close together 1 being 1811 and the other being 1814.
Once again thank you so much. i will keep checking the census now and see if I can track these new relatives.
