Maria, as Margaret married in Scotland, it might be better to buy her marriage cert which would give her parents. It is possible that her birth was never registered. My mother was born in 1907 and her birth was not registered.

Reading your original post again, why to you think her birth wasn't registered as Turner?

I cannot seem to get the hang of this I thought I had added a reply but it does not show. Well one more time. I had seen a couple of Margaret Thomas I think I just might loosen my purse strings and send for the certs
I went to the free b.m.d index and printed out all the Margaret's born in 1902 in the Wrexham area, I now have 5 pages. I would really like to thank you all for all your very generous help Maria

Along shot there are a couple of Margaret Thomas births wonder if she could have been a child of William and Mary who they were living with and for some reason they brought her up as theirs?

Good Morning Gins: Her parents were married in 1900 in South Shields she was born in 1902 I really do not know the month or the day she was born. Yes she was married and died in scotland in fact the 1911 census has her living in Fife. Her parents were living in Wrexham according to the 1901 census Maria

They may have moved shortly after Margaret was born and registered her in Scotland. Have you checked for that? Or they may have moved and not registered her at all!

The 1911 census has them under richard Furner so it took me quite awhile to find them.. Her name was listed as Turner. I also found out she had another brother called William no one ever mentioned him. It did verify the fact that she was born in Wrexham, Wales I do know that after her father was killed her mother abandoned them taking one child with her. My mother was brought by her Aunt Meg who was a Davies Maria

The problem is that I do not know what her name was at birth,except her first name was Margaret. I was told by an elderly friend in Scotland that it was a common practice that if a mother could not take care of a baby for one reason or another someone would take the child and raise it as their own????

Have advised her to try the 1911 Scottish census to see if Margaret is with her parents or whether she was left behind when they moved North.

Richard Mark Turner died France WW1 1917 according to a tree on Ancestry.I can't find his military records.
No other info on him.

According to that tree the Izatts were from Scotland Margaret Izatt 1902- 1951 Edinburgh Scotland.
She had a daughter with middle name Turner and a son Richard.
