Wouldn't surprise me, these Hunter men !!! :-D
Just ordered the birth cert for WW - not sure how much good it will do in terms of finding Irish records, but you never know!

Possible that the children in the 1901 census were not Hunters and maybe only Rose was their daughter (big age difference). Can't find a marriage between 1891 and 1901 for William and Caroline.
Can't see any of them as Hunters in 1891, or indeed 1911.
Just a thought!

Well if the 1891 one is him, as a single man, this seems unlikely I agree!
They really are a nuisance this lot! ;-)

hmmm...'cept it says he was born in Ireland...
Think I found his nephew Robert John HUNTER b. 1884 Kent, as a military person as well in 1911 in Hampshire??? Not sure, might not be him.
(In 1901 Robt was a licenced porter, I have that one).

Ooh he would be a visitor, wouldn't he! His Royal Marine records I just downloaded gives his occupation as shoemaker so that fits perfectly.
I believe this is him as apprentice to a cordwainer in 1871:
Name: William Hunter Age: 14 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1857 Relation: Apprentice Gender: Male Where born: London, Middlesex, England Civil Parish: Writtle County/Island: Essex Country: England Street address: Occupation: Condition as to marriage: Disability: View Image Registration district: Chelmsford Sub-registration district: Writtle ED, institution, or vessel: 5 Neighbors: View others on page Household schedule number: 26 Household Members: Name Age William Hunter 14 Ada Florence Jattwell 6 Clare Ann Jattwell 9 David Charles Jattwell 17 Elizabeth Jattwell 38 Jesse Jattwell 38
(Though not sure if Jattwell has been transcribed correctly)

Thanks, Quoy.
Can I please ask for another favour? Can you see William b. 1856 London City in 1891 or 1901 census? I believe he was discharged from the navy 1891 in Chatham, Kent so may be in Kent somewhere, possibly married. I know it is a big ask! Thanks again.
