The Opening Post has been edited since we first saw it on Sunday!!!


That is not the correct thing to do, especially without any note that there has been an alteration!


The first sentence originally read ...................

"Looking for William Upton born in the early 1800s who was a farmer in Sale or Bucklow in Cheshire. His son was also William Upton, born 1883. "


It now reads ................

"Looking for William Upton who was a farmer in Sale or Bucklow in Cheshire. His son was also William Upton, born 1883."


That change has been made certainly between my posting at 8:15 pm on Sunday, and now (approx 8:19 pm Monday)

It was possibly made even after my posting at 1:28 am Monday Feb 27 ....... as I did not check the opening post at that point. I just continued with the search I was doing.

Many thanks for all the help. I shall need to sort all the information received to try and sort out which is probably the family I am looking for. I'm nor sure where PricklyHolly got the "William Upton born EARLY 1800s" from as this wasn't stated in the original query.

The address on the image in 1911 was Millbank Hall, Partington, nr Manchester ........... and they had 3 rooms including the kitchen but not including scullery or bathroom (if they had them).

Interesting that the record page for the 1911 says the address is ........

i have a problem!


Anne, the requester, is certain that William Upton, father, was a farmer in Sale or Bucklow, Cheshire


but all the records found, and all that I can see, are for William Uptons in LANCASHIRE.

Father William is a farm labourer ............ so at least in the same line of work!.


I would like to know how Anne knows that William senior was born in the early 1800s, what evidence she has for him being a farmer in Cheshier, and the evidence for William junior being born in 1883.

Hmmm, just wondering how William Upton born EARLY 1800s....could have a son born in 1883?

Looking for William Upton who was a farmer in Sale or Bucklow in Cheshire. His son was also William Upton, born 1883.

We know William senior married Anne Whitehouse (? on the surname).
