Many thanks Christine! Anderson is not a far stretch in terms of letters, but I don't think I would ever have guessed it would be that!

They're actually just next door to where they are in 1871 :)

Hello, sorry to add a quick Q to the above. I don't have access to the Ancestry record from 1861. Does it give a street address?

Thanks

Jax found the above record on Ancestry.co.uk. It probably is on GR, but with a different transcription.

Thanks for your help. I have another query with this part of the family..can I be cheeky and ask you or shall I post back on the main board?

Joseph Andrews, the twins' father, was born in Bristol in 1856. I can find him from 1871 through to 1901, but not 1861. I've tried to think of variations on the name that might have been transcribed.
His parents are David and Dinah. There is another Joseph who appears in 1861 but it is the wrong parents.

Thanks x

Twins usually have the same volume and page number (or very close), so finding Mabel's birth leads you to his.

Thanks Rose, that makes sense. And he has uncles called Samuel and George so perhaps they used Albert to dinstinguish him from them.

This is your family:

Births Sep 1897
Andrews Mabel Eleanor M Barton R. 6a 117
Andrews Samuel George A Barton R. 6a 117

Albert must be his middle name.

Then the Albert born here is not yours.

Births Sep 1897
Andrews Albert Henry Barton R. 6a 156
Andrews Elsie Edith Barton R. 6a 156

because he looks to have a twin sister Elsie Edith.

Sorry Rose, not sure who Elsie Edith is... Albert's twin sister was Mabel (as she was recorded in the 1901 census) but her middle name was Eleanor so she was known as Nellie - as recorded in 1911.

Thanks

WW2 deaths are also on CWGC

Hannah

Hannah Report 31 Mar 2012 22:44

He was definitely still alive in 1911 as he is with his family on the census...
I may have written down WW1 instead of WW2.. are you able to check that too?

My nan seemed fairly sure about him dying at war as he had a twin sister and she remembers hearing how awful it was for the family.

Thanks

I don't know if it helps at all in searches, as I have just seen this one's mother was notified, his parents were Joseph and Emily.

Thanks

Hannah Report 31 Mar 2012 22:29

Hello, I am struggling to find record of an Albert Henry Andrews who a relative told me was killed in WW1.

He was born 1897 in Bristol.

Any clues? Is there any database that has ages/county of origin rather than just which regiment they were in as I'm not sure.

Thanks
Hannah
