Managed to get my grandad's birth and wedding certificate.

Father - Victor Davis
Profession - Coal Loader below ground but on my grandad's marriage certificate it says he was a fireman.

Mother - Dora Davis nee Forrest.

Residence at time of registration- 53 High Street, Cradley Heath, Staffordshire.

Birth was registered 29th September signed by Isiah Hyde.

Strange Jane and Eli's marriage 1856 refs are same as William and Sarah's 1895.

Will be looking into this in more depth as they did have a lodger called Abel Southall who was in his 60's but I wasn't able to find any details of Sarah's husband.

The only details I found on the 1911 census was that Sarah was widowed but doesn't give place or date details regarding it. :-S

Have made an appointment to visit the local archives centre on Thursday so hopefully will be able to find out more about my granddad's parents and grandparents.

I find it strange that one of Dora's sisters was called Harry and listed as female in the 1911 census ( I always thought of Harry as being a male christian name) :-S

It's Harry-son-age 8 months on the actual image.

Have wrote down the details of Sarah Forrest and her children which I found on the 1911 census including reference number and will be taking this with me to the local archive centre tomorrow where hopefully I will be able to find out more about her. Hoping to find out more about my granddad's time in service too now I have obtained his army records from my mother.
