Just looked at his birth on SP. Robert Tweed was the illegitimate son of Elizabeth Mcmichen, Domestic servant. So he was the GRANDSON of Hugh b. 1837 Ireland. As he has TWeed as a middle name it may be that his father's surname was Tweed but there is no father named on the birth certificate. His grandfather Hugh was probably the only "father" that he knew and rather than show that he was illegitimate named him as his father on his marriage certificate. The Elizabeth Baird on his marriage certificate may actually be his mother who had married a Mr. Baird after Robert's birth. |

Thank you For that I did wonder that at the beginning I even thought Hugh was married to Elizabeth ?? big age difference but in those days |
