Have you looked on any websites like freebmd for the marriage?

I don't myself, but what is it you are after? Might be something online which you can search for, or folks on here can help.
I assume you mean look-up and this isn't a new-fangled computer term!! (just teasing a little bit!).

Are you thinking someone can look at the actual marriage cert?? it doesn't work that way you have to buy them ,assuming the marriage you are after is after 1837 when official registration started

Glenys Report 16 May 2012 16:35

The marriage I am looking for you need the parish records as it was before 1837 so will not be able to buy one

Glenys

Glenys Report 16 May 2012 16:39

The marriage may have taken place in Cheshire but not sure The childrens baptisms were recorded at Over Winsford Cheshire 3 children born 1822 1824 1826

Nancy may not be her real name

Not all nicknames are obvious. For example, Polly, Patsy, Peggy, and Nancy are actually nicknames for Mary, Martha, Margaret, and Ann

There is this one....admittedly submitted....

Spouse: ANN BECKETT Family
Marriage: 04 MAY 1822 Middlewich, Cheshire, England

Anns were sometimes called Nancy.

Thanks Gwyn
I had seen that marriage I did wonder if Nancy was not her proper name but could not think what would have been her proper name

Glenys

Glenys Report 16 May 2012 18:27

When I looked on Familysearch.org it gave the names of the children born to Charles and Nancy which were correct I also have a copy of the Baptism record from Chester Records office and the names of the parents are the same as on Familysearch.org

If you are not sure whether they are nicknames or not, try google

Of course it may have been her real name and they may not have married

Glenys

Thanks Jax will do

Have you found William through each census?
I just wondered if any family names were mentioned staying with them.

Any 2nd marriage for Nancy within registration times? That would hopefully give a clue to her birth name, which might make it easier to find the earlier marriage.
Do you have a birthplace for her?

Check out
https://www.familysearch.org/search/collection/list#page=1®ion=BRITISH_ISLES

There are several Cheshire collections of interest there, incl parish registers and bishop's transcripts.
