Thanks in advance

Would it be worth purchasing the DC of Burton Colin Morley, on the off chance that he is Elaine's father? I believe Australian DCs list the names of the children, and their ages at the time of the parents death.

38342/1965 MORLEY BURTON COLIN
Father's name - EDWIN JAMES
Mother - SUSAN
District - NEWTOWN

Do you have Elaine and Patrick's MC?

441/1954 CORBETT PATRICK WILLIAM
MORLEY ELAINE CLAIRE
SYDNEY

http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/familyHistory/searchHistoricalRecords.htm

Marriage Certificates give

Bridegroom's full name, occupation, place of residence, conjugal status, place and date of birth, age, father's name and mother's maiden name
Bride's full name, occupation, place of residence, conjugal status, place and date of birth, age, father's name and mother's maiden name
Celebrant's name and witnesses

Death Certificates give

Full name, sex and age, date and place of death, place of residence, usual occupation and marital status at date of death
Place of marriage, age when married, full name of spouse
Children's name and ages
Parent's names including mother's maiden name
Cause of death and duration of last illness
Burial or cremation date and place

Each certificate with reference costs AUD 30

On that basis, the MC is probably the most cost effective.

A tree on Ancestry has both Burton Colin Morley and his wife Mary Jane (Kerr) with several newspaper articles attached.

It list 4 children, 3 of whom have since died, and one 'private' implying that the child was born within the last 100 years, and has no DOD given.

If you are not a member of Ancestry, someone who is could contact the tree owner ( RebeccaWilde) to see if she has other details. Although her trees are extensive, and there is no clear relationship, she has researched and uploaded various documents/photos.

Cupcakes - the ER entry for a Burton C and Mary Ann Morley at the same address for an Elaine Claire Morley, may just be a co-incidence. But well done with the death records of possible siblings

Gail really needs the Corbett/Morley MC to confirm our suspicions ;-) :-D

Gail hasn't posted on this thread since Wednesday - do you think she knows how to get back to it??

You're welcome

We can probably take the Morley line back further, but will wait until asked. After all, she is a 'married in' ;-)

Gail Report 27 May 2012 13:51

Hi All
I found on a real estate site that I use that the house in Manly was sold in March 2011, so I assume Elaine passed late 2010 or early 2011 but can't find anything. This would make her in her mid to late 90's if she was born close to my great uncle's birthday. Unfortunately, I never knew her or the 2 kids and from what I have learnt from an Aunt is that contact with Elaine after Uncle died fizzled out. I'll search the immigration records to see if I can find where she came from.
Again, thanks so much for the info

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 27 May 2012 19:52

Out of interest, why do you think Elaine immigrated or emmigrated depending on your perspective?

If we are right about her parents being Burton Colin Morely and Mary Jane Kerr, then they were married in the Glen Innes district in 1926 or more precisely accord to the newspaper report, on 21 April at Holy Trinity Church, Glen Innes.
(Source: The Queenslander (Brisbane, Qld) Saturday 8 May 1926, page 7 ) An image of the article is attached to a tree on Ancestry.

Consequently, its fairly safe to say she was born and bred in Australia, and probably in NSW.

Had you thought of writing to the neighbours of the Manly address? Since it has been sold relatively recently, they may remember her, or be willing to pass on your contact details to a next of kin. Yes, she may have died or alternatively be living in a Care Facility or with relatives.

Hello +++DetEcTive+++
Looking at the info again I what you mean, I feel you guys have got it right and I was confusing Elaine with another I am looking person I'm looking at.
That's a good idea to contact the neighbour, clearly you guys have been doing this a while and have got good at it. I'm just a very part timer and thankyou for all your help.
