Find Ancestors

Please can anyone help!! My Burrell family tree can go no further until i can get help with James Burrell. I have been on every site i can think of.
James Burrell was the father of Ernest James Burrell b 1869/70 d aug 20th 1920. He married Clara Dew in 1897. My problem is i cannot find anywhere where James came from, believe he was born around 1840'sh may have been born in Essex or Islington London, certainly lived there in later life.All i know is he was deceased by 1897.
Hope somebody can help as he seems to have dissapeared, did think i had got somewhere early on with the surname Burrells only to find after sending for the certificate that the fathers name was William on it!! so i'm back to the beginning.

I can't find a match for his birth though. I did a phonetic on the surname and the closest is Ernest James Barrall but he was born Birmingham.

Would help if I could find them in 1901

I must be losing my touch. I can't find him in 1891 or 81.

I've found this on FamilySearch but I can't get it on GR. Yob is off by five years though.

Might be the same child baptised twice as not found a BMD for the first baptism

Maybe he wasn't born Burrell but his mother married later and changed his name.

Thankyou for your reply, all i know is his name was James Burrell father of Ernest James Burrell , i have some confusion with certificates in my possesion of Ernest James means i cannot establish exactly what year he was born. He married in 1897 aged 28yrs old making it 1869 yet his death cert states he died on Aug 20th 1920 making is DOB 1870, i have tried so many sites using those years and either side of them to find a birth cert for Ernest James to allow me to find his father James info.
I did find a Burrells surname with quite a few children from Rochford around the 69/70 area sent for the BC but sadly the fathers name was William .

Hello, thankyou for the info, i had seen something like it before but not saying2 children had died, which i had suspected as marrying in1897 and the first child born in 1903 was a long time for those days, we believe one was a Ernest Robert Burrell.The info also says Ernest James Burrell was born in 1873Benfleet and i believe as i have mentioned before his marriage cert and death cert seems to say different.Ernest and Clara went on to have more children who my husband and i knew very well, 2 sons born1912 and 1918 plus a girl in between those years. Many thanks for your help i will try 1873. If i can only get his birth details right then i can advance to his parents.
