I am trying to help my friend born George HUDD 1952 (Lambeth) who took his mothers name Fitzgerald.

His father George Hudd was named on his birth certificate living at 55 Key House, Bowling Green Street, London, SE11 however my friend George never had any contact with his father and was told by his late mother Mary Fitzgerald (known as Polly) that his father wanted no contact with him because he was possibly married, however over the years George was told that he had a half-sister by George senior and his wife or from another!

I feel like I'm looking for a needle in a haystack and so would be very grateful for any leads or ideas where I should begin to start!

Thanks, Lisa

I notice that your friend is actually George T.
Did George Senior have a middle initial ?

Any idea if the sister was older or younger than George Jnr ?

George senior is on the electoral rolls for 1956/7/8 at the address you give on ancestry

It looks from the marriage index that George snr. probably married in 1948 but I can't see any children to the marriage so if your friend does indeed have a half-sister then the child was born to another lady and would be almost impossible to find without having her mother's name.

Hi Mike

George Senior did NOT have a middle name on George Jnr birth certificate and understand the sister was older than George Jnr.

Hi Tempest

Do you know what other names where on the electrol roll for 1956/7/8 ? Is there a Ann F Hudd? and any others?

tempest

tempest Report 8 Jun 2012 09:41

had another look for you, here are the names of the electoral roll for a few years that seem to link

51 Key House
1937 Ann Caroline Hudd, Ann Frances Hudd, George Hudd, Thomas George Hudd
1938 Ann Caroline Hudd, Ann Frances Hudd, George Hudd, Thomas George Hudd
1939 Ann Frances Hudd, George Hudd, Thomas George Hudd

55 Key House
1952/ 3/ 4/ 5/ 6/ 7/ 8/ 9/ 60 Ann C Coleman, Ann F Hudd, George Hudd
1961 Ann C Coleman, George Hudd

wonder if Ann Caroline Hudd was his sister who married and became Ann C Coleman??? there is a 1938 marriage in Lambeth to a Peter C Coleman that may be worth looking at

and if Ann Frances was his mother???

Further help needed...Please

I have received the Death Certificate for George Hudd hoping that I would find an Informant however its blank! Sadly George was found dead at home and the cause of death is "unascertainable" and after an inquest they concluded an open verdict.

Any ideas where I go from here?

Lisa

I should have mentioned that his home address was 25 Lohmann House, Kennington, Oval, SE11

I would imagine he lived alone when he died, however can I check to see if years before anyone else lived there with him?
