Maurice Report 17 Jun 2012 13:15

I am hoping some kind person with an FMP subscription may be able to do a look up for me.

On behalf of my niece i am helping her to research the Wyley family for part an Historical course she is taking.

Sir William Fitzthomas Wyley dob 1852 Stoke Coventry.
Parents John Wyley and Matilda Harriet ( maiden name as yet unknow)
Cannot find this marriage either.
I have all the censuses occupations etc for William and his only son.
William Fitzthomas Wyley was also known as Colonel Wyley.

FMP has four records on the other Army lists/roll calls 1656-1888.
One record is for Wm F Wyley which i am hoping is him. The other 3 records may be his relatives as i have come across a Major Wyley in the probate records on Ancestry.

Is it possible someone could check Wm F Wyleys record for me please.

Thank you and best Wishes
Maurice.

Maurice, I've found an article in Tamworth Herald 17 August 1940 stating he died on Sunday. He was born 1852 Stoke House, Coventry.

Will pm the article as it might be a useful appendix for your niece's project.

EDIT: There are quite a few others, one being he was on the board of directors for the London City and Midland bank.

Will send a selection.

Their is quite a lot known of Wiliam Wyley but it appears all over the place.
It is information such as yourself and other helpers have found which will be most helpful to her.

BIRMINGHAM GAZETTE - 14 August 1848
"Married"

On the 3rd inst, at St Saviours Church, Jersey, by the Rev. Philip Fillent, John Wyley, Esq., of Stoke House, Coventry to Matilda Harriett, third daughter of the late Rev. William Edward Fitzthomas.

That explains why I couldn't find a marriage, also where William got his middle name from.

Thank you Maddie and MarieCeleste for your replies.

Please excuse late aknowledgment.

The marriage is a great find. I had assumed his middle name may have come from John ~Wyleys brother Francis who had married i think an Ann Phebe Fitzthomas. Perhaps they were sisters.

Well i never,

Best wishes to both.
Maurice.
