rootgatherer,

Henry's name comes from a family bible. The entry is barely legible and reads Henry Gilbert 188? Lessness Heath.
Esther's name comes from church baptism records for Henry junior in December 1810.

Thanks Adeline, you have picked up on Henry Gilbert 1810 and his wife Ann Brooks 1817 together with there four children. They went on to have a further four children prior to 1851 (just in case anybody pops up again and tells me that I'm not giving all of the relevant data).

Rootgatherer, Henry senior's name comes from a family bible, the name is written as Henery and the dob is almost illegable. 188?
As for Esther the data is even less definate. Henry 1810 "was baptised on 25 December 1810, the son of Henry and Esther".

Just a reminder that as well as the ages being rounded down relationships where not recorded on the 1841 census so to assume that all in that household with the same surname where siblings, son's and daughters or even husband and wife could be wrong

The census records give ages not year of birth (that is calculated from the age stated on the census). The actual image of that census is quite clear and the handwriting easily read.

If you haven't found Henry (Senior) on a census, can I ask please how you have a year of birth for him please?

Had you put this request on one of your other threads about the same family, we would have had an idea of the limitations of your data and there would have been no need to look for information already found.

If you haven't found Henry (Junior) on a census record with his mother, how do you know that his mother's name was Esther please?

Thanks for additional observations.

My origional data was limited to:

Henry 1788 -m- Esther unknown

Henry 1810 William 1813 Sarah 1815 Hester 1816 Mary 1818

This would fit with Henry deceased in 1818
but other dates given in the 1841 census would be wrong. Looking into this at the moment. It could just be transcription handwriting error.
Henry and William were very likely to have left home by 1841. The girls names could not be coincidence. Mary 1818 would just fit into the pattern. Mary 1821 would not. I'm still musing, could 1818 be mistaken as 1821 in any scrawl?

Another But. On the 1851 census Esther has a daughter Mary born 1822 but didn't Henry die 1818? (Hope that's when he died cause that's when they buried him!)
