Address is Almshouses, Pollokshaws Road, Govan Parish.

The informant appears to be her daughter.

A search of the Poor Relief Records (indexed and free to search at The Mitchell Library, Glasgow) may give you more information.

Scottish death certificates for the Statutory (post 1855 in scotland) period are very complete. If you buy some credits in Scotlands People (7 pounds for thirty credits) you can search for his death record (1 credit) and view it (including download the image) for five credits. You'll get his age, place of death, cause, spouse, parents (if known) and witness, which is very often a son or daughter.

I have found lots of useful info, especially for people born in the OPR period - multiple marriages and links, via the witnesses to later generations.

No I've not found her in the 1871 census, and i haven't looked into her death
I've just got her and her husband living in India Place 1861 and alexanders death certificate in Jan 1871 living at 25 India Place stating he was married to Ann Baird which leads me to think she was still living

Think I'll have to tackle this from another angle?

Thank you for your help

Where did and when did Annie died please? Have you found her on the 1871 census?

Found on FMP under India Street, Midlothian. There are 8 different households at number 25 in 1871, but no Murrays. There are no images available.

The transcript Shirley found was from Ancestry. They don't have the images for Scottish census, so it is not possible to view the next household(s)

Findmypast says it holds 1871 Scottish census, but on a free search neither
India Place NOR India Street Edinburgh, Midlothian
isn't coming up.

If Ancestry have it, then it must exist!

Have you tried Scotlandspeople? It is pay-to-view but is the official Scottish repository

yes Kath

sorry if I confused you

It's one of those things you know what you mean and think every one else is on the same wave length

I think Robert thought the same as me. I thought you were asking if Ann was still living at this address NOW (which is why he said something was wrong) - but I guess you meant is she still living there in 1871.

Sorry lap top playing me up

Ann andrew Baird married alexander Murray 1810

in 1861 she was living in India Place with her husband giving her age as 69 and down as Annie
so her birth would have been about 1792 Anderston Linlithgow West Lothian

so that census isn't her :-(

I think what is being asked: is Ann still living at the address in 1871 after her husband dies!
