I have all the details of his life from his grave, census records and photographs but have never found where he was baptised and for some reason have never sent for his actual marriage certificate

I found the details were on the parish records for west yoirkshire

thank you all - that is what I was after

I wonder why I never found the marriage at Crosstone last time I was trawling the registers in Todmorden (some time ago)

the addresses Kurrotts Road (baptism) and Slawfield Road (marriage) are new to me so that gives me further info

Kurrotts = Knotts?? - I have Knotts Rd down in my notes as the census place in 1871

Slawfield - Stansfield?? where a lot of my families lived

Ann - I think the address on the baptism was actually Knotts Road.

thanks MC - was editing my last post when you posted that bit - proves beyond doubt that I had the right family - not that I was in doubt as Thomas Arthur's father was a councillor and there were a couple of long obits in the local papers on his death (also on todmordenandwalsden site

I think you may be right about the interpretation of the addresses Ann

Slawfield does = Stansfield I think as on the 1901 census jsut after Ann & Arthur were married her father Duke was living in Stansfield Rd
