Find Ancestors

I have hit a brick wall and do not know where to go next. I am trying to locate a family named Richards.
I know that Harriet Richards was 26 when she married in 1864 East Stonehouse Devon and that her father was James Richards (deceased) and he was a copper miner. I have no idea what Harriet's mothers name was. I can not find a James Richards with a daughter Harriet in 1841 census - Harriet would be about 3 years old. I have looked for a death of James but there are about 30 just in Devon area. Can anyone help - advise me where to look next. I cannot find her birth either which would have been about 1838. These two are Richard Rattenbury and Harriet Richards, but I am trying to go back further on the Richards line to find James and his wife. I see where you are coming from Cornwall not Devon. Thanks

I have just rearched 1841 census and cannot find Harriet with father James in Cornwall. It is driving me mad.

Eliza is showing as married so maybe James is at Sea

It defo says 'mariner' on the 1841

Could have been entered wrong on any of the records, including the marriage certificate I guess. You'll need to be careful following the line

Harriet Richards married Richard Rattenbury on 18th December 1864 East Stonehouse. The witness signatures are nearly illegible but I can make out Jane or June Allen and E????? Rudle cannot make this name out at all. Richard Rattenbury address Royal Marine Barracks East Stonehouse - Private Royal Marine Light Infantry. It is The family of Harriet Richard I am trying to trace.
