Thanks Andy, I see Mary Ann has died. She was a Widow when marrying James Stickland, hence confusion and was looking for Alfred J. Stickland.

My interest now is her Mother Jane Preece b. 1825 Stourbridge after 1891 Census as she is my Grt.Grandfather's sister who I have only recently found.

Only one surname in GRO index for MJ's birth

Totally and utterley confused. The 1891 Census above - family Stockland, name appears to be Stickland. Cannot find a marriage but checked on birth of Bertha. There is a Bertha Annie Stickland Dec.1888 Wolverhampton which appears to fit in.
Cannot find the family afterwards but found a Bertha Preece age 13 on Index of 1901 Census Wolverhampton.
Did Mary Ann Preece marry Alfred Stickland or did they live together. Was she a widow? I just cannot find a marriage of Alfred Stickland or Stockland. Can anyone help.
The Mary J.Stickland 11/12 is confusing. Is that suppose to mean eleven and one half or was'nt the person giving info not quite sure of age. it states Jane Preece as Mother-in-law so why all the confusion. Can anyone help? Many thanks if someone can sort it out for me or is it my little grey cells have gone to sleep.

Thanks RamblingRose, Jane must be one of mine that I have missed. Could not find baptism and parents William and Elizabeth seems to have disappeared either moved away from Kinver or died as none of children are with them. will have to buy Marr cert to find out about Father. Thanks again.

Just found a marriage on Family search - Thomas Preece and Jane Stringer - 21st Feb 1848 . Believe Jane might be one of mine with Father William born Kinver (Kinfare) Staffordshire. (cannot find baptism) Marr. Wolverhampton 17 325.
