Hi There

I'm hoping some kind person could please see if they can find the following marriage and death records:-

PUGH Georgina A. born 1906 Youngstown, Ohio - marriage and death record.
PUGH Vivian Harold born 6 Jan 1896 Youngstown, Ohio - Marriage record.
PUGH John E. born c1922 Youngstown, Ohio - Birth & Marriage record
PUGH Sarah Martha died c1937 Ohio - Death Record
PUGH Reginald John died c1942 Ohio - Death Record.

I've only been able to find 3 children for Reginald and Sarah PUGH but on a census record it says she gave birth to 6 children.....if someone has time could they please see if you have better luck than me at finding the other birth records.

I would really appreciate the records being emailed to me if possible so I can attach them to my tree so am happy to give you my email address if you PM me.

Really appreciate your help :-)

Kind Regards

Tracy (New Zealand)

This family may also have extended family by the name of Williams staying with them.

You have a well documented tree on Ancestry, so you have presumably searched all records on there.

https://www.familysearch.org have several data sets for Ohio vital records. Have you explored all of those?

This link gives suggestions and guidance where other records can be found. some you have to pay for, others you don't.

Thanks for your advice Detective :-)

I've spent hours searching for records for different branches of this family so thought I would see if someone else had any luck.....don't want to be a nuisance, just thought I would ask and see what replies I got for the records I couldn't find.

Kind regards
Tracy

The WW1 draft you attached for Vivian Harold Pugh show him to be still single on 5 Jun 1917, so any marriage is after that date.

He is single and with his parents on 9 Jan 1920, but married by 14 Apr 1930.
In the 1930 census he and Frances say they have been married for 10 years (deducting age of 1st marriage from their ages then) so they must have married 1920/21. Of course, that's assuming they did!
Their son John Edward is 8 in 1930, presuming a birth 1922, and conception 1921 (ish)

You're not a nuisance - someone with detailed knowledge of Ohio records may be able to help!

Have you looked for Obits as they sometimes give marriage dates?

Although you are looking for specifics, there are sometimes birth and death dates on gravestones - http://www.findagrave.com/ is a good source.

Married females often have their maiden name as a middle name which might help somewhere along the line

Thanks Heaps mgnv :-)

You're a legend...your info has helped answer a few questions.

Paul Gilmore's wife was Reginald Pugh's daughter whose real name was Georgina so am guessing it was shortened to Jean. Will see if I can find a marriage and death record for her now that I know where to look...fingers crossed :-)

Have a great week!!! ;-)

Hi mgnv

Could you please do me huge favour and copy a link to the next page of the 1930 Census you sent me for the Pugh's...the Paul Gilmore at bottom of page is the husband of Reg Pugh's daughter Georgina so am guessing Georgina (Jean) and perhaps children are on the next page.

Kind regards
Tracy

The original posting was:
http://archive.org/stream/ohiocensus00reel1846#page/n525/mode/1up

There's two ways - go to the original page and use the right clicker in the lower right corner.

Alternatively, edit the URL to show the next page =526 instead of 525 - i.e.,
http://archive.org/stream/ohiocensus00reel1846#page/n526/mode/1up

Actually, you can do this in other cases too. E.g.,
http://data2.collectionscanada.gc.ca/e/e327/e008169521.pdf

That was an 1881 Canadian census page I looked up for another thread - family 179 the Scheick family, nowadays spelled Sheik. However, suppose I was interested in family 188 - the Clayton family. This continues on the next page:
http://data2.collectionscanada.gc.ca/e/e327/e008169522.pdf
(One of the family's named Clayton, so he would be findable by conventional means here.)

mgnv Report 28 Aug 2012 04:49

Here's the geeky explanation - say I look up Reg in US 1920 at
https://familysearch.org/search/collection/list#page=1®ion=UNITED_STATES

I posted the hit above - the key bits are:
name: Reginal J Pugh
residence: , Mahoning, Ohio
film number: 1821415
image number: 00898

Now I go to http://archive.org/details/1920_census and click on Ohio.
I know the last 3 digits of the FS film # match the last 3 digits of the NARA reel # - 1415 in this case, so I click on that link, then the "read online" link which gets me to:
http://archive.org/stream/14thcensusofpopu1415unit#page/n0/mode/2up

Now I change the page # and the upness - the obvious page to try is 898, so
http://archive.org/stream/14thcensusofpopu1415unit#page/n898/mode/1up
It's the wrong page (I usually need to go a couple of pages smaller).
Anyways, I pick some name on the page, say line 80:
name: Frank Randolph
residence: , Mahoning, Ohio
film number: 1821415
image number: 00901

Now, we see we're 3 pages too high, so we want:
http://archive.org/stream/14thcensusofpopu1415unit#page/n895/mode/1up
and the following page:
http://archive.org/stream/14thcensusofpopu1415unit#page/n896/mode/1up

1930 is similar except the key info is:
name: J Reginald Pugh
event place: Youngstown, Mahoning, Ohio
nara publication: T626, roll 1846
image number: 00529
and we start at http://archive.org/details/1930_census - big surprise.

FS doesn't give enough info for 1910, so that gets really geeky

Thanks for taking the time to help me learn something new :-)

Cheers
