Christina(Lancashire) Report 7 Oct 2012 13:59

I'm sorry, Marjorie, I don't know. I think a death cert should have the following information, if known by the person registering the death.....

A persons date and place of birth.
Their full name.
Their given age.
Occupation.
The cause and duration of their last illness.
Where they died.
The name and address of the informant as well as their relationship to the deceased.

So I think it would only include a wife's name if she was the informant?

Hopefully a more knowledgeable person will help you.

Marjorie

Marjorie Report 7 Oct 2012 12:50

Christina
On his death cert, would it give his wife's name ?

Eliza is on the 1891 census as a widow with children as Eliza born Greenwich and the other children William, Henry and Elizabeth all born in Camberwell, so as she is a widow on this looks like William senior died before the 1891 census,.

What i was thinking was as William was called William George Anthony and one of his sons was also a William George Maloney and one of his Daughters boys was baptised William George Anthony maybe the father was a George and just went as Anthony like so many did

I have found a William born 1845 in the 1861 and 1871 census but his parents were a John and Mary, but not sure if this is him as we all know on his marrige lines gives his father as Anthony Moloney, not sure when it changed to Maloney maybe it always was and the writing was bad

Will look to see if i can find a George Maloney with a son called William

What a brick wall i have here

Have you got William's death cert?

Deaths Jun 1886 (>99%)
Moloney William 43 Camberwell 1d

If this is his death, then he was born 1842 - 1843.

Age 38 at marriage in Jan 1883, would make his year of birth 1844 - 1845.

Have you found him on any census?

Just wondering where you got his birth as 1845 - 1847 from?

Potty

As far as I know William was born 1845-47 but can not find where, as I have tried to get his birth certif for him but there is not a record of a William born 1845-47 with the father called Anthony, I have a copy of a William born 1845 with a Father called John who was born in Greenwich
Eliza got married again in 1902 and to a Harry Lewis, he was a lodger, in the house she lived in, at the time of Harry and Eliza marriage they lived at Vesrley Road Camberwell, and her daughter Eliza Swain and her husband were the witneses

Margee
Opps sorry meant I visited the family home Williams daughter Eliza Maloney who married a George Swain lived in Ruby Street off Old Kent Road,

Christina
This info is correct
Eliza E Moloney 38
Eliza Moloney 19 married a George Swain
William G Moloney 19 William died in the 1st world war in Flanders
Henry R Moloney 16 this is my grandfather died in 1947
Elizabeth Moloney 15 married a Edwin Vaughan
Thomas Moloney 12 died of war wounds in 1919
Martha Moloney 11 Married a Benjamin Harris

So you can see i have the right family, but some times it gives the surname as Maloney and others Moloney

This is ONE big brick wall

Regards Marj

Potty Report 6 Oct 2012 15:14

I wonder it the Eliza in the 1902 marriage is the 9 year old Eliza in 1891 and was born before her mother's marriage, that would explain the double entry.

Potty

Potty Report 6 Oct 2012 15:05

There is another possible marriage for an Eliza Buckhurst in 1902 to a William but he is not Maloney. There is obviously something odd about this page - there are 3 Elizas!:

Allen Elizabeth Camberwell 1d 1201
Buckhurst Eliza Camberwell 1d 1201

Moloney Eliza Camberwell 1d 1201

Can you give us some dates please, Marjorie? When and where was William born?

Marjorie

Marjorie Report 6 Oct 2012 14:32

I am trying to find any info on Anthony, hes my Grt Grt grandfather, I believe, it says on my Grt grandfather Williams marriage lines his fathers name was Anthony and he was a boot maker, I am not sure if Anthony was his 1st or 2nd name, at the time of Williams marriage, William lived in Old Kent Road, London, where the family were still in that area in the 1950's as i visited them there, I have tired so many avenues not sure where to go now so any help would be great

William Married a Eliza Buckhurst, and it gives her father as dead so by that I believe Williams father was not,

I have info on William and Eliza children so i know I have the right William
