Thanks Flip.
I might have a possibility:
Frank Hollis was born and died in 1891 in Lewisham.
Just have to check it out.
They had a son in 1894 who they also called Frank which would make sense if the first one died.

If you use of MS Excel you can download all the Hollis births and child deaths in the area from freebmd then use a v-lookup to find those who have died in infancy. Otherwise you'll just have to trawl through them all!

Thanks Flip I shall try to look at the first few years after they were married to see if any child died soon after birth

I dont think the London baptism records will be of much more help, the only other child I can see to this couple is Leonard - which GB has already posted.

Added, as they married in 1890 there is quite a gap to the first child recorded - maybe they lost children early on in the marriage - just a though.

On the 1901 census the name was written as Haller

Percy born in 1895 was one of their children. Unfortunately he died late 1911 leaning out of a train window.

FMP has a Daisy Hollis (1899) in Wandsworth on 1901, but I can't find that census record on A*

Ann

Ann Report 2 Nov 2012 13:19

The 1901 census had the name down as Haller living in Battersea with three children Frank, Percy and Daisy.

Think FMP have the family in 1901 but I currently do not have a sub to check it out

Possible as Frances might be using her middle name of Harriet

Flip Report 2 Nov 2012 13:14

There's a number of trees on A* with the family - Percy William died in 1911 (after the census) according to them. I can't see any tree with the 1901 census, nor can I find any of the family in 1901

Ann

Ann Report 2 Nov 2012 13:14

Thank you GlitterBaby. I think you have found one. Frances middle name was Harriet and Frank was a grocer.

Ann Report 2 Nov 2012 12:35

Looking at the 1911 census I find my grandparents had 8 children not 5. Three obviously died soon after they were born. Has anyone any idea how I can find out their names?
My grandfather was Frank Hollis born 1865
My grandmother was Frances Carter born 1866
They married in 1890 and lived in the Lewisham and Wandsworth area.
The children I know about are:
Frank 1894, Percy 1895, Daisy 1899, Leslie 1904 and Horace 1907.

But who were the others?
Any help would be appreciated
Ann
