The incorrect info was her christian name and date of birth. they used a pet name I think
all I know is my dad went mad when they told him but all these people have now passed over so I cannot ask them I was away at sea at the time so cannot remember exactly when I was told
The reason the mistakes were made was it was considered rude to ask someone there name and date of birth very old fashioned Ideas in my family :-)
If I get the wrong certs can I return them and get a refund?
Thankyou all for the info I was heading to that one dont know what she was doing in barton though

Hello David - no, afraid you won't get a refund if it's wrong.

You say she was registered using her "pet name" - do you know what that name was?

David, quote, don't know what she was doing in barton though

Barton was the registration district where the death was registered and not necessarily the place where she died, barton registration district at that time included civil parishes, Davyhulme, Eccles, Flixton, Irlam, Little Hulton, Kearsley, Stretford, Urmston, Worsley, Swinton & Pendlebury

BARTON REGISTRATION DISTRICT
Registration County : Lancashire (1934–74), Greater Manchester (1974–80).
Created : 1.10.1934 (out of Barton upon Irwell, Salford and Bury registration districts).
Abolished : 1.4.1980 (to become part of Salford registration district).
Sub-districts : Eccles, Stretford, Swinton, Urmston.
GRO volumes : 8c (1934–46), 10B (1946–74), 39 (1974–80).
Registers now held by : Salford and Trafford.

At the time this woman died, the maiden name was recorded on the death cert

Just stipulate that the maiden name must be Heathcote when applying to the GRO........or to LancsBMD
