Oh thats confusing! William George was 23 when he married in 1915.
I have Williams birth as 27/7/1891.

On Marriage cert William was a private in the light infantry. Alice was living in Newfoundland Rd. Her deceased father' was a bootmaker.

from the 1911 census, he would have been 23 in 1915 ?

Is Williams father deceased on the marriage cert ?

The 1911 census posted has Annie as a widow .

So he'd still be 9 on the 1901 census date, and 19 on the 1911 one.

Were any Allen's witnesses on the MC? A sibling perhaps?

Yes sorry ...Both fathers deceased. William's family obviously named two children William!! Thanks for all help so far. I have been unable to find a marriage for Thomas Allen and Annie so had wondered if they were born outside Bristol.

Was the dob from the death certificate?

It includes several areas which became part of North Bristol

The 1911 census says that Annie had been married 28 years, with 9 live births, of who 3 had died. So assuming they did marry, it would be about 1883

Thanks thats very helpful . Date of birth came from Famiysearch.org which also gave his christening date and parents.
The 1890 birth for William was the wrong one I had originally and sent me down the wrong path.
