I think you will find that Llanddaniel is in Anglesey - the other end of Wales from Cwm, Ebbw Vale.

Thanks for your help - yes, I think the Petty Sessions Court Records would be worth looking at but the 100 years closure will probably apply. We will try though, thanks again.

The Marriage Certificate would also be a great help but we need to make sure we have the right William Williams first. As we didn't find any William Williams in Graig Terrace in 1919 (where he said he was living) we are not sure what to do next.

Thanks again
Sandy

Sandy,

If your grandmother resorted to court action to pursue the putative father for maintenance then records may be found in the Petty Sessions court records local to where she was living at the time. If so the records might well have more details of the man such as his exact address, age, occupation ect.

Contact the archive office for that area as they may now hold those records.

I think you need to get the marriage cert as this will give hopefully age ,fathers name ,occupations and possible witnesses may be family

In reply to your queries 'Reggie'. He was my father's father, in name only I'm afraid. He jilted my Grandmother in 1914.

However, it appears she pursued him relentlessly for maintenance for 14 years and took this to the Courts. As a result we have been able to acquire 3 newspaper articles relating to this.

There was a time when we thought we didn't have a chance of ever finding out who my father's father was. Now at least we have a name. Unfortunately, the articles don't give his age.

In what sense are you 'looking' for him?

How do you relate to him?

When/where was he born?

I'm looking for a William Williams who lived in Graig Terrace, Cwm, Ebbw Vale, South Wales in 1919. He was still living in Cwm in 1929. Unfortunately, the newspaper articles I got this information from did not give a number for the house in Graig Terrace. I've searched various records e.g. Electoral Registers, Rent Books, but have not found any William Williams in Graig Terrace.

Any help regarding where else I could look would be very welcome.

Thanks, Sandy
