Parish records may not actually give much more information. The amount of detail on these varied from parish to parish. Sometimes they only include the name of the groom and the bride and date of marriage with no further information. Sometimes the name and occupation of the bride's father is given. |

Thanks. I really appreciate all this. I have managed to get a lot of info.now . Jane Crow (Strachan) died in 1871 aged 70 Mother was Mary Burns and Father was Charles Strachan . Spouse James Crow Sailmaker. Now I can start getting some B and D certificates. Thanks again. |

Civil Registration didn't come into force in Scotland until 1855..........so you will not be able to get certs.......only baptism records |

This is a list from an ancestral file on familysearch of your g grandmother's children. The middle names are usually family surnames. So there appears to be a Smith, Strachan, Crow, Scott and Chalmers connection. |
