Hi Shane
I’m Dora’s granddaughter. Her eldest daughter, my Mother, is still alive aged 93.
Please get in touch and I’ll tell you what I know.

p.s. I've ruled out the Doreen Sneath who married Neville Ross in 1946 - she was born in 1923 in Basford, Nottinghamshire.

p.p.s I have records for four daughters of Ernest and Dora, but have had no success in tracking them down to ask about their mother's fate.

Thanks for the info, folks - much appreciated.

Looks like the second marriage certificate could be the way forward, though I'm intrigued by the potential Mason link.

I've checked for other potential Doreens registered in Jan-Mar 1909 and it doesn't look like any of them married a Mason, so perhaps this is my one. I'll have a further snoop around and see what I can come up with...

Cheers!

Hi folks,

I'm wondering if anyone could give me a steer on tracking down what happened to my father's cousin Dora May CLARKE (11/1/1909 - ).

Born in North Norwich, she married a gentleman named Ernest James SNEATH in 1927 and had four daughters in the Norwich area under the name of 'Doreen May SNEATH'. However, sometime after 1933 I'm guessing bad luck of some kind came to the family, as Ernest James SNEATH appears to have remarried in Norwich in 1949.

I cannot find a remarriage or a death for Dora under the SNEATH name - can anyone out there suggest any leads before I resort to ordering Ernests's second marriage certificate and confirming he was a widower by then?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Shane
