Robert, if you don't already have it, getting the marriage cert will give his father's name to confirm any birth, although if he is Elinor's son, she is shown as single in 1961 so very unlikely any father's name will be given. |

WOW. Slightly overwhelmed by the fast and comprehensive replies. Many thanks to All. I will try and digest the info. Yes i did suspect Elinor as poss mother. In 1871 he shows as 17yr old servant on Anglesey. Then 1881 a 27yr old Husband in St Pauls Terrace, Bangor. In 1891 it shows (in St Pauls Terrace, Bangor) his wife Margaret. more kids, including my Grandfather John Owen. There's no sign of him, only on a Death Record of 1891. So i'm pretty sure of his year of birth. |

Hi Potty, It's England & Wales births 1837-2006, under the heading 'Record Transcription, 11B-441 is correct. The Marriage - England & Wales 1837-2008, 11B, 608 does not contain any father's name. The Census 1861 shows Head as Thomas Williams B. 1791. Parish Aberdaron. Also Sarah Jones B. 1840. Hope this helps. |

Hi, I'm new to the site. I hope this is the right board for my query. I am searching for my Great Grandfather Qwen. He was from Bangor, Caernarvonshire Wales UK. I have found him on Census, Marriage and Birth. On the 1861 Census he is a 7yr old lodger, so no names of parents. On the Birth Record, it only gives Name, Date and Place of birth. Is there any way of finding a Birth Certificate with the parents names etc? I would be very grateful for any advice. |
