I have found this link and it is my direct ancestor, born 1767.

However, I'm having real difficulty deciphering the entry and I would be so grateful if someone would kindly have experience of these registers and could help me out, please.

Can't see Thomas's marriage to Sarah, so can't say for sure.
His father's name wouldn't be on the marriage record in any case.

ArgyllGran.. I think you could be onto something there.. Gawin is a name I haven't come across ..yet...… I wonder if that was another branch as the William I have been looking at was Father to a James, John and Christian (female)....(that was 1687 and earlier....

Taken from some old Judicial Records of Renfrewshire...
In 1687 Mr William Kibble of Whyteford , Ancestor of the Highly Respected Kibbles of Greenlaw was proprietor of and resident in his mansion...when the family were attacked by robbers trying to steal from their orchard....at the instance...?? Mr Wm Kebble sons James and John daughter Christian and Elizabeth Miller his servitor brought charges against the villain's to the High Sherriff....August 1687
