Alviegal, Greyghost and Maddie

Thank you one and all for your invaluable assistance.
Many of the little asides are going to be extremely helpful and although I still have some doubts as to the accuracy of Joseph Heap's DOB, 2014 or 2016, you have discovered other facts that will undoubtedly help in determining his ancestral line. I have found myself going up the wrong branches for quite some time now so you have narrowed my search pattern considerably.

Thank you again. :-)

Have found an original image for the 1814 baptism.

Joseph son of Hannah Heap of Scholes in the parish of Kirkburton was born Sept 12th and Baptised Oct 16th 1814

The event took place at Nether Thong - google Netherthong Wesleyan Chapel.

Netherthong close to Holmforth

Got to go out now.

Baptised twice then Maddie ? Same birthdate. My post shows Wesleyan baptism 1814, yours shows All Hallows in Kirkburton 1823.

I have a number of siblings for one of my ancestors all baptised CofE but just one shows in a Wesleyan too. If you can get to see an original of the baptism you might be able to see what I did - the Mother's parents were named - very helpful !

Fellrider Report 21 Jan 2020 12:07

Hi. I am hoping that there is someone out there who can perhaps assist me to further my search for any ancestors of one Joseph Heap (1816 - 1888 ??) who was married to a lady by the name of Sarah Swain (1818 - 1890). He was a school master and on retirement they went to live at Wadsworth House in Oxenhope where he died.

The 1841 census states that he was teaching at a school in Cumberworth near Huddersfield.

Any additional information would be most appreciated. Thank you.
