Only US records are on Fold3 if you go direct to their website.

But there are UK records if you access them through Ancestry, plus a Fold3 membership (or 7-day free trial).

However, I don't see any likely looking John McAlpine army records on Ancestry.
Lots of John McAlpines, but none that look as if they might be the right one, if he was living in the Linlithgow/Haddington/general Edinburgh-ish area.

There's this one in Musselburgh, but not Berwickshire Militia. This is a list of serjeants:

John McAlpine
in the UK, British Army Muster Books and Pay Lists, 1812-1817
Name: John McAlpine
Start of Muster: 25 Dec 1812
End of Muster: 24 Mar 1813
Stationed or Muster Place: Musselburgh Barracks
Regiment or Unit: 1st Regiment of Foot (Royal Scots), 4th Battalion
Piece Number: 2019

Image viewable on Ancestry - no need for Fold3 for this one.

Just wondering if any one has membership for Fold3
Still trying to find info about my John McAlpine born about 1785 in Scotland
1841 census he was in Linlithgow with his wife Margaret both down as 55 born in Scotland but not in county with them was their Daughter Stewart Cowie aged 15 down as son, born in Linlithgow Scotland, When he married in 1807 Haddington he was in the Berwickshire Militia ,So this is why I'm after some one who has membership for Fold3, They seem to have a few John McAlpine's , I think this is the only way I can find out anymore about him I've got all the deaths for John between 1841 and 1861 when his son death certificate had his parents was deceased

fingers crossed
