Iam looking to find the parents of Mary Ann Putnam 1864-1939.. I think she was born in or near London and married Herbert Henry Adams 1864-1952. Would be grateful for any help please.

?? not 1864, but close and Ann/Hannah often appear interchangeable

Looks like the daughter was born before the parents married but it seems strange that both mother and daughter have the same name unless b.oth are only showing the mothers married name

You need to register with the site, but then free. will give mmn from Q3 1837 whereas other sites start at Q3 1911 and also age at death, from Q3 1837 where other sites don't start until mid 1860's

I found her in the 1881 census but could find no record in the 1871 census when she would have ben about 8 and it would have had her mothers Christian name. Am still wondering where you found the maiden name Head Greyghost.

Greyghost. Have just seen where the Sarah Head comes in but think these are the wrong parents as her father is definitely Thomas Putnam on her marriage certificate.

It would have helped if you had said at the start that you knew her Father's name.

Or posted a census on which you'd found her for place of birth.

The marriage cert. gave Father's name and occupation, her age and residence, all would have helped to pinpoint her more easily and avoided possible wrong info being posted.
