Barry Report 27 Apr 2003 09:45

I have been researching my family tree for several years now but I have very limited knowledge of my Grandfather William Snelgrove (b1867 d 1936) son of Ellen Francis and William Snelgrove(m 23/12/1865) of Sutton Veny near Warminster in Wiltshire. He is recorded in the 1901 census as living at 28,Gt College Street in lodgings with Ellen Parrish but I know little about his life from then until he married Mabel Thompson (30 years his junior) in 1931 when he was then 64 and described as a widower. They had already had my father- Maurice Francis in May 1929 and soon after had Joan Snelgrove in 1931 followed a few years later in June 1935 by Diana(known as Jean) He then died of cancer aged 69 at lambeth Hospital I have now found out (through Genes Reunited)that William married Martha Davis from Wales in 1904.They had one child Dudley Snelgrove in 1906.Sadly Martha and William left Dudley with Mr and Mrs Nash in London whilst for some reason they went to Barry in Wales.Martha then returned and died of influenza in 1918 in Tottenham and William seems to have left his son with the Nash family, having little contact until later in life. Any information about Dudley or William especially between 1918-1929 would be really useful.Anything about the Snelgrove or Davis line would be extremely helpful. [email protected]
