Can anyone help me with the following, please. MICHAEL DICKINSON’S GRANDPARENTS (I have very few dates) Joseph Dowbiggin Dickinson – Born in Lancaster Roman Catholic (Dowbiggen is a family name). It is believed that his Family were Coal Merchants. There is said to be a stained glass window donated by the Dickinson Family in a church somewhere in Lancaster. Margaret Ellen Dickinson (Nee Sergeant) – born in Preston Church of England This was a ‘Mixed Marriage’, frowned upon by their Victorian parents. They were cut off by their families, lived in Ulveston, in the Lake District, and Joseph then found work in Birmingham (85 Dolobian Road, Aston). Joseph and Margaret never had contact with their parents again and religion was derided in the family thereafter. Joseph was a Brass Founders Manager in Birmingham and later worked at the Austin Works in Longbridge, Birmingham Joseph and Margaret subsequently lived in Braithwaite Road, Sparkbrook, 47 Geraldine Road, South Yardley and 30 Stanway Road, Shirley, where Grandfather died. THE SIGNIFICANT POINTS ARE THE STAINED GLASS WINDOW IN A CHURCH IN LANCASTER AND THE FAMILY NAME 'DOWBIGGIN'.
