William John Neill (born 1858 either in Northern Ireland or Scotland). Son of James Neill (either born in Northern Ireland or Scotland - possibly Ayreshire region). William married Martha Anne Potts in 1886 in Belfast (her father was called James Potts). Does anyone out there recognise any of the above names. This is the earliest document I have relating to this side of my family. James Neill was my Great-Great Grandfather. I know nothing about him except for his name which appears on William's marriage certificate.William was my Great Grandfather - his son (my grandfather) was Samuel - born in Belfast on 16th June 1889 - his son (my father) was Samuel John - born in Belfast on 10th April 1929. I was told by my Grandfather's brother Matty (Matthew) that our family originally came from the west coast of Scotland. A branch of the family went to Canada (possibly Montreal and another branch went to America (possibly San Diego or New York). I think others still live in Scotland and Northern Ireland.I would love to hear from anyone who might think there is some connection.
