I've got a Sives connection in my family but i'm struggling to tie things together. Mary Sives, b c1798 married a Cornelius (Neil) Fortune (aka Fortown) on 7 /12/1822. (I attach a copy of an extract from the OPR) I believe Mary's parents were Charles Sives and Ann Bell. I belive they would have been born around 1760s but I can't trace their marriage or birth certificates. Nor am I sure of their parents. They had 6 children, Jean b1786, Ann b1788, John b1789, Euphans b1792, Charlotte b 1796 and Mary mentioned above. All of them came from Dirleton in East Lothian, Scotland. More than the above I can't find out for sure. Is this of interest to you or can you add any detail to it. I've only been looking at the Sives recently but it seems to be a minefield with many variations in the spelling of the surname. Regards Dave
