Complex History: LUCY YOUNG born 1874 Newington had 2 sons: WALTER YOUNG born 1900 in Newington workhouse and abandoned by his mother at age 8 & HENRY YOUNG, approx 1898, who states his place of birth as PLUMSTEAD on his WW1 army record,(died 1915).HENRY states his father as THOMAS YOUNG,WALTER can remember father being horse-drawn bus driver. In 1901 this combination of THOMAS and bus driver occurs once and he is married to someone else. This could explain workhouse where LUCY was living in 1901 and claims to have also been born there. LUCY was an alcholic. We don't know if YOUNG is her birth name or the name she used due to sons father's name. Has anyone access to Newington workhouse records please?
