The name Amor could have several origins. It has exact equivalents in Spanish and Arabic and similar spellings in French, Italian etc. It could also be an old English name deriving from A'mor, meaning someone who lived on the moor. The latter seems more likely since there were Amors in Wiltshire in at least the 1500s.
