William Mantey, mariner, born in Prussia according to the 1871 census for Newcastle on Tyne, Northumberland, England, where he lived with his wife Sarah and his 2 sons William & Henry. His father's name was Michael, a saddler, according to his marriage certificate. He married Sarah Ann Barwise on 29 Dec 1869 at St. John's, Newcastle on Tyne.He died 14 Aug 1873 and is buried in Newcastle on Tyne.
