A PERSON WOULD BE GIVEN A NAME INDICATING A PLACE WHICH WAS EASILY RECOGNISED,IN THIS CASE, OF BUSBY, A TOWNSHIP IN STOKESLEY,NORTH RIDING, YORKSHIRE.THE NAME APPEARS IN ENGLISH DOCUMENTS FROM THE 13TH CENTURY WHEN JOHN BUSSEBY, OF OXFORDSHIRE WAS ENTERED IN THE HUNDRED ROLLS OF 1273AD.
