I once did a bit of research into the heraldry of the name Cruttenden and came up with the following: The name appears in the Doomsday Book 1086/7 and has early connections with France and Germany although the majority of descendants settled in Sussex and Kent. The coat of arms consists of an Elks' head mounted on a helmet above a white crescent and 3, 6- pointed stars. Below this is a gold Chevron, all mounted on a blue background. |
