My GtGrandfather, John MACNAMARA is reportedly born in Stone in Staffs, and made his way down to the southeast working on the railways. Where he met and married Mary Jane HAYWARD (m. 25 Dec 1891). Family Lore has it that John ran away from home at an early age and that perhaps Macnamara was not his real name, but when asked he replied, oh I'm just one of Macnamara's Band, and hence the name stuck. Does this story ring a bell with you at all?
